Amber Heard’s Aquaman 2 role has not been reduced at all, industry insider says

Following the events of Amber Heard’s defamation trial loss with ex-husband Johnny Depp, a trial in which Heard insinuated that Depp had physically, sexually and verbally assaulted her multiple times during their relationship, it was presumed that Heard’s role as Mera in the Aquaman sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom would be in jeopardy or at the very least, diminished due to her actions.

DC Extended Universe fans were vocal about having Amber Heard’s Aquaman 2 role shortened or nixed altogether as well, especially in the light of her ex-husband Depp being quickly removed from his role as Gellert Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts movie franchise by Warner Bros. when Heard’s allegations him preceding the defamation lawsuit first cropped up.

According to industry insider KC Walsh, who writes for TheGWW.com, neither scenario is the case regarding Amber Heard’s Aquaman 2 role, which comes as a bit of a surprise considering Heard claimed her Aquaman 2 role had been reduced due to Depp’s allegations.

“I was given a script, then given new versions of the script that had taken away scenes that had action in it, that depicted my character and another character — without giving any spoilers away — two characters fighting with one another,” Heard testified in the defamation trial. “They basically took a bunch out of my role. They just removed a bunch.”

Heard’s Aquaman 2 role, which is rumored to comprise about 20 minutes of total screen-time, was “not reduced or shortened at all,” according to Walsh.

“Yep, not reduced or shortened at all,” Walsh said on Twitter. “I had a source say they were looking to cut her but sounds like that is not going to be the case.”

Walsh reiterated that Heard was very present in the film, adding that the actress was included “throughout the film.”

“Heard remains throughout the film,” Walsh continued. they didn’t cut her or shorten her stay at all.”
