A six-year-old boy who protected his sister from a vicious dog attack received some superheroic words of encouragement as a result of his bravery — namely, from Captain America actor Chris Evans, who heard about Bridger Walker’s story via his aunt Nikki’s social media account.
“My nephew is a hero who saved his little sister from an attacking dog,” Nikki’s caption reads under a graphic image of Bridger, whose face is swollen and sutured after receiving over 90 stitches following the incident, with his arm around his little sister. “On July 9th, my six year old nephew Bridger saved his little sister’s life by standing between her and a charging dog. After getting bit several times on the face and head, he grabbed his sister’s hand and ran with her to keep her safe. He, himself, took on the attack so that the dog wouldn’t get his sister. He later said, ‘If someone was going to die, I thought it should be me.’ He got home from the hospital last night. I know it’s a long shot, but I’m reaching out to the Avengers and other heroes so that they can learn about this latest addition to their ranks.”
Nikki’s plea might have been a long shot, but if you can count on anyone to recognize true heroism, it’s Captain America. Evans responded to Bridger with an uplifting message that rightfully commended the young man for his selfless act of bravery.
“I read your story, I saw what you did,” Evans began in the IG video. “I’m sure you’ve heard this a bunch of times over the last couple of days. But, let me be the first one to tell you, ‘Pal, you’re a hero.’ What you did was so brave and so selfless, your sister is so luck to have you as a big brother. Your parents must be so proud of you. I’m gonna track down your address and I’m gonna send you an official Captain America shield, because pal, you deserve it. Keep being the man you are, we need people like you. Hang in there, I know recovery might be tough. But, based on what I’ve seen, there’s not much that could slow you down.”
