The Boys Season 2 release date
The Boys Season 2 is set for a September 4th release date, which was revealed earlier this week on a livestream with Patton Oswalt. Series producer Eric Kripke revealed that only the first three episodes of the series would be available on launch day, with remaining episodes being released in a weekly fashion in order to give “the audience the chance to just absorb and recover after every episode.” By that schedule, the final episode of The Boys Season 2 will be set for October 9th.
Ostensibly The Boys Season 2 will resume where the first season left off, with sinister Superman analogue Homelander (Antony Starr) discovering his metahuman son and Hughie (Jack Quaid) actually sparing the life of A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), the man who literally ran through his girlfriend in the first episode of The Boys‘ first season.
New faces to The Boys Season 2 include the aforementioned Patton Oswalt as well as Aya Cash, who will play Stormfront, a new superhero joining the ranks of The Seven. Cash described her new character as being like “a nuclear bomb that goes off in The Seven,” according to an interview with EW. “I think she’s here to blow up Vought,” Cash continued. “She’s here to try to get Vought back to the original idea behind creating superheroes… And she can be quite the feminist. There’s a lot of, I wouldn’t say misdirect, but she also is a very empowered woman.”
Returning cast members include Karl Urban as Billy the Butcher; Jack Quaid as Hughie Campbell; Antony Starr as Homelander; Erin Moriarty as Annie January AKA Starlight; Jessie T. Usher as A-Train; Chace Crawford as The Deep; Nathan Mitchell as Black Noir; Ashley Barrett as Colby Minifie; Tomer Kapon as Frenchie; Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko; Laz Alonso as Mother’s Milk; Dominique McElligott as Queen Maeve, as well as the aforementioned Giancarlo Esposito as Mr. Edgar.
